President Trump met with families of the Santa Fe High School shooting before heading to fundraisers in Houston and Dallas

HOUSTON, TX — President Donald Trump arrived in Houston Thursday to offer his condolences to the families of victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting, befire heading off to two scheduled fundraisers.

Trump was met by a contingent of Texas Republican leaders, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Attorney General Ken Paxton before moving to a private hangar to meet with the families.

Trump boarded Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews, at 8:09 a.m. CDT, and landed at Ellington Field south of Houston just before 11 a.m.

The meeting with the families came nearly two weeks after 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis allegedly gunned down 23 people, killing eight of his fellow students and two teachers, and a day after Abbott outlined a plan to enhance school safety.
